      卢征远第一次让我刮目相看是在他完成了我给他布置的一个看起来像是专门难为他的作业一百天里面做一百一件,每天一件作品。

我这样布置作业是因为他的认真。自从考上研究生后,兴奋的他每天在学校里听各种讲座,在图书馆里翻书籍杂志,上网搜集国内外的当代艺术资料,凡是自己有兴趣的,就记下来,有时甚至当时就联想出与之相关的构思,画出草图。然后就每天来约我,跟我讨论他的想法,不停地把他的草图给我看,要我提意见,甚至跟我论辩。我从他画的各种草图和构思里面就能看出,他今天看的是什么资料什么杂志,因此也能看出什么他参考的是什么类型的艺术家的影子。

       时间长了我觉得这样下去不行,可是作为导师又不能拒绝他来找我讨论,因为我的教学主要是在与学生就他们艺术思考和实践方面的困惑进行讨论和沟通的过程中来贯彻。这让我头疼了好久,后来我才想出了一个专门针对他这种情况的办法。我跟他说,你既然每天都有这么多的想法,咱们只是在口头上讨论不过瘾。干脆,从现在起一百天之内,你每天必须完成一件作品,一百天一百件作品,完成之后再来见我,咱们就具体的作品进行讨论,否则你就不能来见我。

       卢征远答应了下来。而且三个月后,他真带上一百件作品来见我了。

      后来的事情就简单多了。他自己说,刚开始的时候真好像有做不完的想法;到将近一半的时候才开始真正从自己身边的生活中找到了做作品的线索;再往下做,就觉得刚开始时前面的想法离自己真正的感觉太远,别人的影子自己也能看得出来了。到最后,他能够以自己的感受面对任何事物,把艺术生产变为自己的日常生活的一部分。

      毕业后他坚持在日常生活中做艺术。2010年上半年,他将自己在工作室里用50天时间完成的50件作品,在泰康空间的“51平米”做了展示,首次向艺术圈宣告了自己激进的工作方式。

      2010年底我策划他在尤仑斯空间做“8484件作品”时,在将“规定的时间里,每天一件作品”从概念和过程诸方面进行了更精确更严密的思考后,他将整个过程放在博客上,在大家的眼前一天一件作品地做出来。最精彩的是他完成了所有的作品后,让尤仑斯艺术中心以一元钱的价格全部收藏。这显示出他的良好心态。年轻的他,不把金钱看得多么重要,而是将艺术,将自己艺术的未来发展,将展示自己作品的机会看的更重。

      从2010年底到现在,又过去了一年多时间。卢征远持续活跃在北京当代艺术年轻艺术家的圈子里。下一步他的工作,也许还会持续高强度的“每天一件”,也许会平缓地将视线集中在某一、两个艺术主题上。经过观念艺术锤炼的他,未来的艺术道路宽广的很,我们只是需要拭目以待。

The first time that Ilooked at Lu Zhengyuan with quite different eyes was when he finished myassignment that seemed to vex him deliberately – in 100 days – finish 100 works– one work each day.

I gave such an assignment to him in view of hisdiligence. After he became a postgraduate student, he excitedly attended allsorts of lectures on campus, read books and magazines in the library and surfedthe Internet to collect information about contemporary art. He noted downeverything he was interested in, or even conceived relevant ideas and drewsketches immediately. Then he came for me every day to discuss about his ideas,showing his sketches, asking for my suggestions or even debating with me Lu accepted my assignment, and he did come for mewith 100 works after three months.

Things become easier later. Just as he said, at thebeginning it seemed as if he had numerous ideas; in the middle he started tofind the thread of creation in life around him; later on he found the previousideas were too far away from his true feelings and even others’ shadows couldbe seen from them; finally, he could face everything with his own perception,turning art production into part of his daily life.

After graduation, he persisted in doing art indaily life. In the first half year of 2010, he finished 50 works in 50 days inhis own studio and exhibited them in “51 Square Meters” in Taikang Space, thefirst time for him to unveil his radical working style to the art circles.


At the end of 2010, I planned for him to finish “84Works in 84 Days” in UCCA. After precisely and rigorously pondering over theidea of “one work each day during a limited period” from the aspects of conceptand process, he posted the whole process on his blog, finishing one work eachday in front of everyone.At such a young age, he doesn’t care much aboutmoney, but values art, his own art future and the opportunities to show hisworks more.

Lu is continuously active among young artists in Beijing.In the future, he might continue with the intense projects of “one work eachday”, or smoothly focus on one or two themes. After all those tempering in art,he is sure to have a broad art path, and what we need to do is waitexpectantly.
