今天我们要学习的是count。count作动词的基本义是“数数；计算”，基本义和其衍生义联系比较紧密，且count的很多表达在汉语中都有相对应的说法，学生理解起来难度不大。
比如，其衍生义“包括”是从“把……计算在内”而来；“看作；认为”可以通过“算作”来理解。
而count的衍生义“重要”则需要通过例句来理解。例：
1. Every point in this game counts.
2. Life is short and every second counts.
比赛中每一分都关系着成败，生命中每一秒都有意义，不能“漏数”一分一秒。这样来看，count自然也有了“重要”的含义。
